Day 14: The Horse Barn and Clouds

This was a challenging edit..
I took two different pictures without a tripod of this scene, one trying to get the clouds correctly exposed and one with the barn and foreground correctly exposed. Then, I had to cut out the foreground and paste it onto the background pic I took.
More than an hour of dodging and burning, smudging, cropping, image healing, saturation, sharpening, and straightening, here's the final picture! I used GIMP and Picasa for this one.
It was fun and challenging because it's something I've never done before...

Day 7: Grasshopper

I've been trying to carry my camera everywhere with me, which meant I had it when picking currants today. I didn't have much time for photography, but I decided to take a couple pics in case I didn't have time later in the day.

I edited this grasshopper pretty extensively in GIMP, using the "Oilify" plugin and changing saturation levels using the Smart Select Scissors. I wanted to paint a blurry layer of medium saturation between the grasshopper and the grass, but that's hard to do without Adjustment Layers...

Tomorrow morning, I am going to wake up early and take a sunrise photography walk. If I sleep in, please yell at me in the comments =D
Edit: Rain + Camera = Nuh-uh!! Maybe I can do the earl morning walk tomorrow morning, but this morning, we woke up to amazing and unexpected rain and clouds :)

Day 2: The Garden at Starlight Farm

Today seemed like a great day for some macro photography; there was dew all over everything and the sun was out and shining strong.
The first picture is of a little rose plant. All of those droplets are dew! :)

This year, we decided to try a blueberry bush. It's amazing!! It hasn't grown very much, but we've enjoyed delicious blueberries all summer. It only produces a couple at a time, but they're great!

Both of these pictures were taken with a stacked +1 and a +2 macro filter.

Now I have to go work. Today, I'll be working on a mesa near my house pulling mullen. I did this last Wednesday and pulled over 600 mullen plants! There's no shade and it's looking like it's gonna be a hot one today D:
